In addition, it shared key priority projects for each city and county and set aside time to gather a wide range of on-site opinions.
The 2026 agricultural policy of Gangwon Province will be pursued under the goal of "innovative growth of the agriculture and livestock industry, agriculture and rural communities of challenge and opportunity," focusing on the following five strategic priorities.
They are: ▲ Establishment of a Gangwon-style future agriculture and rural community that connects diversity and challenge (300.7 billion won) ▲ Transition to smart, low-carbon livestock farming and securing future growth engines (42.0 billion won) ▲ Advancement of Gangwon agriculture by linking production, distribution, and consumption of agricultural products (221.6 billion won) ▲ Creation of a sustainable agricultural environment and enhancement of public-interest functions (269.0 billion won) ▲ Establishment of a safety and welfare system where people and animals coexist (41.9 billion won).
In particular, to enhance the practical effectiveness of the farmland special exemption system under the "Gangwon Special Act," the province plans to expand the designation of "Rural Vitality Promotion Zones" and actively support various rural development models. In addition, to foster apples as a new strategic crop, the province selected seven smart orchard specialized complexes for 2026, laying the groundwork for the largest smart fruit-specialized complex in the country.
Based on the on-site opinions presented at this briefing, the province plans to promptly take action on matters requiring immediate improvement and to continuously strengthen the linkage between the field and policy through various communication channels. It also plans to develop a variety of policies to create rural communities to which young people return.
