The signing ceremony was attended by Kim Igang, mayor of Gwangju Seo District, and Koo Bokgyu, governor of Hwasun County, as well as senior officials from both local governments, who reaffirmed their commitment to sustainable exchange and cooperation and to working together for regional development.
This agreement was promoted to build a practical win-win model that residents can tangibly experience, by strengthening exchange and cooperation in all aspects of daily life, including administration, culture, tourism, sports, and welfare, between the two areas that are geographically adjacent and effectively form a single living zone.
Under the agreement, the two local governments plan to actively participate in major cultural events such as the District and County Residents’ Day to invigorate exchanges, and to devise cooperative measures so that residents can conveniently use tourism and sports facilities in both regions.
In particular, Hwasun County plans to expand mutually beneficial exchanges by providing discounted usage fees at major sports facilities such as the Hwasun Park Golf Course for residents of Gwangju Seo District, while Gwangju Seo District will actively cooperate in the use and promotion of Hwasun’s local specialty products.
Mayor Kim Igang said, "Hwasun County has always been a reliable neighbor with whom we have come and gone closely, sharing affection," adding, "We will do our best to ensure that this agreement leads to cooperation that truly helps improve residents’ lives."
