The Institute of Legal Studies at the University of Seoul, in collaboration with the Korean Society of Economic Law, held the '2026 Winter Conference and General Assembly' at the Baekje Centennial Hall of the University of Seoul.
The conference was organized to conduct in-depth reviews of major legislative issues in the fields of economic law and commercial law that are arising amid changes in market structures and the economic order, and to explore future directions for institutional improvement and legal interpretation. The event was also sponsored by NS Home Shopping and Home&Shopping.
At the conference, key issues spanning the overall framework of economic law were discussed, including: practical issues related to directors' remuneration; competition law issues in agricultural wholesale markets; regulation of internet-only banks in light of changes in the digital financial environment; and the development of InsurTech and resulting changes in insurance business models.
The Institute of Legal Studies at the University of Seoul is a research institution that has conducted legal theory research and policy-linked studies covering both public law and private law. Through this joint academic conference, the Institute plans to expand academic discussions and practical implications in the field of economic law and to continue providing a platform for academic exchange.
Kwon Jaemoon, Director of the Institute of Legal Studies at the University of Seoul, said, "We expect that this academic conference will serve as an opportunity to review major issues in the fields of economic law and commercial law and to stimulate follow-up research that will deepen future legislative discussions."
