"Unfazed by Ice" Jaguar Luxury GT Spotted in Extreme Cold-Weather Testing
Jaguar Four-Door GT Prototype Set for Second-Half Debut
Jaguar announced on the 7th that the prototype of its new all-electric luxury four-door GT has begun cold-weather testing in Arctic conditions at temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees Celsius.
The new GT is undergoing the most rigorous global validation program in Jaguar's history. A total of 150 prototypes are being driven for hundreds of thousands of miles across a wide range of terrains and environments worldwide, from scorching desert highways to frozen lakes and advanced virtual environments.
The core objective of the current testing on frozen lakes in Sweden is to refine the characteristics of each driving mode to achieve the perfect balance between Jaguar's signature intuitive responsiveness and serene ride comfort.
With an output of more than 1,000 PS, it is set to become the most powerful road-going model in Jaguar's history. The advanced all-wheel-drive tri-motor technology with intelligent torque vectoring distributes power instantly and precisely according to driving conditions, delivering outstanding stability and confident driving in any adverse situation.
Jaguar engineers are also finalizing the setup of the chassis system, all-wheel steering, dedicated new 23-inch winter tires, dynamic air suspension, and active twin-valve dampers to maximize body control and ride comfort. These technical elements are designed to work in perfect harmony with the powertrain torque control system, which, according to the company, delivers Jaguar's hallmark best-in-class body stability and exceptional ride comfort in any road conditions.
Matt Becker, Jaguar Director of Vehicle Engineering, said, "Combining our in-house-developed electric drive technology with its unique proportions and low center of gravity, this model is a luxury grand tourer on a completely different level," adding, "It will be the most quintessentially Jaguar model, offering extreme comfort when you want it, yet delivering exhilarating, immersive performance when you need it."
