Supporters Across All Generations Gather... Seo Won Kicks Off Nonsan Mayoral Race
Over 1,000 Supporters from Their 20s to 70s Attend Publication Ceremony
Democratic Party Leadership: "A Prepared Candidate Proven in the Field"
"The badge is not a symbol of power, but a mandate from the citizens."
Seo Won, a Nonsan City Council member from the Democratic Party who is running for mayor of Nonsan in the upcoming local elections on June 3, officially kicked off his campaign by holding a publication ceremony at Konyang University’s College of Business and Economics on January 24.
On this day, more than 1,000 supporters spanning all generations from their 20s to over 70s gathered at the publication ceremony, demonstrating that Councilor Seo’s eight years of legislative work have been built up in the field of everyday life.
At the publication ceremony for his book, "A Line of Standards (100 Sentences to Reform Institutions)," Councilor Seo presented his eight years of legislative experience and political philosophy, stating, "Politics should alleviate the hardships of citizens. The minimum duty of a politician is to work so that the citizens who have entrusted their authority do not end up in misery."
This event marked Councilor Seo’s first large-scale public political appearance since he announced his candidacy for Nonsan mayor last year, with more than 1,000 supporters from all generations in attendance.
Using the example of a complaint about an unpaved village road, Councilor Seo said, "The explanation that paving is only possible with a land donation is not based on law, but is simply an administrative custom arising from internal regulations," and added, "For eight years, I have witnessed countless instances where citizens’ inconvenience is repeated because systems and practices do not change."
He emphasized, "There are many issues on the ground that could be fixed if only there was the will to do so."
He further stated, "The badge was given by citizens as a mandate, saying, 'I am busy, so please go and work on my behalf.' If I fail to respond to that request, the ones who suffer the most are the citizens."
He added, "I have always worked with the mindset that a politician is a four-year contract worker who can be replaced at any time."
The Democratic Party leadership also expressed their support for Councilor Seo.
Jeong Cheongrae, Democratic Party leader, sent a congratulatory message to the publication ceremony of Seowon Nonsan City Council member.

He continued, "I hope this publication ceremony will serve as a starting point for establishing 'a line of standards' together with citizens and discussing the future of Nonsan."

The book is not just words, but a record of action and a promise to find solutions for Nonsan. I hope the strength of the citizens will support Councilor Seo’s journey."
Meanwhile, Councilor Seo’s book, "A Line of Standards," is a record that organizes questions and answers collected in the field into 100 short sentences, and also includes 100 photographs depicting the modern and contemporary history of Nonsan.
He explained, "I wanted to look at the time of Nonsan and the lives of its citizens once again through the lens of 'the promise of the present.'"
