Kim Heejung Inaugurated as 85th Chief of Gwangyang Police Station
Emphasizing "Creating a Safe Local Community" and "Community-Oriented Public Safety"
On December 29, the Gwangyang Police Station in South Jeolla Province announced that Kim Heejung, Senior Superintendent, has been appointed as the 85th Chief of Gwangyang Police Station.
Before the inauguration ceremony, Chief Kim paid tribute at the Police Memorial Monument to honor the noble spirit of those who sacrificed their lives for the nation. He also held a meeting with heads of partner organizations, officially commencing his duties in public safety.

View original imageIn his inaugural speech, Chief Kim emphasized the importance of "creating a safe local community" and "community-oriented public safety services."
He stated, "To ensure citizens enjoy a warm daily life and for the police to earn public trust, it is necessary for us to stay close to the community and take proactive steps in our policing activities. While it is important to exercise strong public authority appropriately to support the socially vulnerable, we must also show concern and reach out warmly to those who are struggling or marginalized."
He added, "To foster a workplace culture filled with happiness and laughter, I will strive to be a 'colleague' before being a 'chief,' so that all members of the Gwangyang Police family can work comfortably, serve more safely, and be part of a more respectful organizational culture."

Chief Kim graduated from the 17th class of the Korean National Police University in 2001 and has held key positions including Head of the Traffic Division at Dongdaemun Police Station in Seoul, Commander of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Traffic Patrol Unit, and Head of the Youth Protection Division at Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency.
