This delivery ceremony is part of Gwangju Shinsegae's social contribution activities that have been ongoing for 22 years. Over the years, the company has supported the improvement of living conditions for vulnerable households by providing funds for purchasing coal briquettes and other necessities.
Recently, as the number of households using coal briquettes has decreased, the company decided to provide heating cost support and prepare hope gifts that children wish for, instead of coal briquettes. Notably, this year, employees wrote 20 handwritten letters for the beneficiaries, adding special meaning to the event.
Established in 1995 as the first local corporation among major retail companies, Gwangju Shinsegae has continuously pursued initiatives for regional coexistence. In addition to the Hope Santa program, the company runs the Gwangju Shinsegae Scholarship to foster local talent and the Hope Delivery Campaign to support medical expenses for children with incurable diseases.
