View original imageOn December 24, Gapyeong County announced that it received the top award in the environmental infrastructure installation category, an excellence award in the environmental infrastructure operation category, and another excellence award in the water source management area category in the "2024 Fiscal Year Han River Basin Management Fund Project Performance Evaluation" conducted by the Han River Basin Management Committee. Along with institutional commendations, the county was awarded a prize of 14 million won.
The county also reported that, in the newly introduced 2024 fiscal year Outstanding Performance Evaluation, the official in charge of the fund project was recognized for achievements in environmental improvement and budget savings, and was selected as the top performer. This evaluation was conducted by the Han River Basin Environmental Office, which comprehensively analyzed the management adequacy, achievement of objectives, and excellence of results for seven fund projects across 52 management authorities (cities and counties) within the Han River basin.
Gapyeong County systematically renovated aging sewer infrastructure through its environmental infrastructure installation project. In the environmental infrastructure operation project, the county established an active monitoring system and was highly rated for achieving pollutant reduction targets. In the water source management area project, the county was evaluated positively for timely waste collection, which helped prevent abandoned waste from flowing into rivers.
