Seven-Vehicle Pileup Near Mongtan 2 Tunnel on Seohaean Expressway... Three Cars Completely Burned
At around 10:28 a.m. on December 22, a chain-reaction collision involving seven vehicles occurred near the Mongtan 2 Tunnel on the Seohaean Expressway in the direction of Gwangju, located in Mongtan-myeon, Muan County, South Jeolla Province.
As a result of the accident, five people who were in the vehicles sustained injuries of varying degrees and were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.
During the accident, a fire broke out in some of the vehicles and spread to adjacent cars, resulting in three vehicles being completely burned. The fire was extinguished by firefighters who responded to the scene in about 30 minutes.
Muan County and related authorities issued emergency text alerts and implemented traffic control measures, including urging vehicles passing through the affected section to take detours.
