7 Out of 10 Live in Yongsan, Gangnam, and Seocho
A recent survey found that about 7 out of 10 heads of large conglomerates reside in Yongsan, Gangnam, and Seocho districts in Seoul. In particular, the Itaewon and Hannam-dong areas of Yongsan District are especially concentrated, accounting for over 20% of the total.

View original imageAccording to an analysis published on December 17, 2025, by CEO Score, a corporate data research institute, of the addresses of 436 family members of heads of 62 designated large conglomerate groups in 2025 whose residences could be confirmed, 409 individuals, or 93.8% of the total, were found to reside in Seoul. This was followed by Gyeonggi Province with 17 people (3.9%), overseas with 4 people (0.9%), Busan with 2 people (0.5%), and Incheon, North Jeolla, Daejeon, and North Chungcheong with 1 person each (0.2%).
Even within Seoul, 305 conglomerate heads, or 69.9% of the total, lived in just three districts: Yongsan (29.1%, 127 people), Gangnam (25.9%, 113 people), and Seocho (14.9%, 65 people). These three districts have the highest housing prices in the country.
At the neighborhood level, the largest number of conglomerate family members were found to reside in Itaewon and Hannam-dong in Yongsan District. In these areas, 100 people (22.9%) from the families of the heads of 32 groups, including Samsung, SK, Hyundai Motor, and LG, listed their addresses.
This was followed by Seongbuk-dong in Seongbuk District with 37 people (8.5%), Banpo-dong in Seocho District with 24 people (5.5%), Bangbae-dong in Seocho District with 18 people (4.1%), Cheongdam-dong in Gangnam District with 17 people (3.9%), and Seongsu-dong in Seongdong District with 15 people (3.4%).
In Gyeonggi Province, 10 people (2.3%) lived in Bundang District, Seongnam City, and 3 people (0.7%) lived in Yangpyeong County. In Busan, 2 people (0.5%) from the families of the heads of groups such as DN and IS Holdings, which are based in the Busan and South Gyeongsang regions, listed their addresses.
According to the standards for preparing corporate disclosure forms, individuals are required to list the address from their resident registration. If the disclosed address differs from the known actual residence, the address listed in the disclosure was used.

Spouses and children under the age of 30 who are listed at the same address were excluded from the tally to prevent possible duplication. This survey targeted conglomerate family members whose addresses could be confirmed through equity ownership disclosures.
