On December 12, Mokpo City held a "District Issue Review Meeting" presided over by Deputy Mayor Cho Seokhoon, who is serving as Acting Mayor, to share and review key projects by district.
This meeting marks the first step in a new collaborative system, where projects previously carried out separately by each department are now reviewed and discussed jointly on a district basis. Through this approach, the city aims to eliminate information silos and administrative barriers between departments, establishing a more integrated and organic municipal management system.
The review meetings will be conducted sequentially across a total of eight districts: Samhakdo District, Daebandong and Seonchang District, Original Downtown and Bukhang District, Island District, Gatbawi and Peace Square District, Port District, Daeyang Industrial Complex District, and Hadang District.
In the first review, which focused on the Samhakdo District, 14 major ongoing or planned projects were shared, with substantive discussions held on potential linkages between projects, overlap issues, and solutions to current challenges.
The city stated that, prompted by these review meetings, it will re-examine its policy direction from a "citizen benefit-centered" perspective rather than an administrative one, setting the creation of tangible outcomes that citizens can feel as its core objective.
