On December 12, two urban railway lines within Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province, were included in the 2nd Gyeonggi-do Urban Railway Network Construction Plan, which received final approval and public notice from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

View original imageLee Donghwan, Mayor of Goyang Special City, stated, "The urban railway project, which is part of our ongoing plan to expand the railway transportation network to overcome the poor transportation environment in the northwestern region of Goyang, has been confirmed." He emphasized, "We will do our utmost to establish a dense railway network."
Mayor Lee added, "However, if the 'Goyang-Eunpyeong Line Ilsan Extension' project, which is currently under review as part of the 5th Metropolitan Area Wide-Area Transportation Implementation Plan, is included, we will consider changing the confirmed 'Daegok-Goyang City Hall-Siksa Line' to that project."
Two lines, the 'Gajwa-Siksa Line' and the 'Daegok-Goyang City Hall-Siksa Line', have been included in Goyang City. The 'Gajwa-Siksa Line' is designed to address transportation blind spots, connecting the Gajwa District through the Janghang District to the Siksa District, with a total length of 13.37 kilometers and a total project cost of 411.1 billion won.
The 'Daegok-Goyang City Hall-Siksa Line', included as part of the Changneung District Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Plan, will connect Daegok Station through Goyang City Hall to the Siksa District. This line will have a total length of 6.25 kilometers and a total project cost of 235.3 billion won, and is expected to significantly improve transportation convenience for local residents.

Meanwhile, on December 12, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport approved and publicly announced the 2nd Gyeonggi-do Urban Railway Network Construction Plan. Including six lines that were not implemented in the first plan and six newly identified lines, a total of 12 lines, with a combined length of 104.48 kilometers and a total project cost of 7.2725 trillion won, are planned for implementation in Gyeonggi Province.
