Seongju County Clarifies Criteria for Population Policy Support Funds... To Be Implemented from 2026
Settlement Support Fund Limited to Once per Lifetime
Marriage Encouragement Grant Age Restriction Abolished
Seongju County announced that it will partially revise the "Enforcement Rules of the Seongju County Population Policy Ordinance" to enhance the effectiveness and reliability of its population policy support funds, with the changes set to take effect on January 1, 2025.
The main amendments include: ▲ the introduction of a regulation prohibiting duplicate payments of the settlement support fund (limited to once per lifetime), and ▲ the removal of age restrictions for the marriage encouragement grant.
Under the revised rules, the settlement support fund will be provided only once in a lifetime to residents who move into Seongju County on or after January 1, 2026, thereby preventing duplicate payments. For the marriage encouragement grant, the previous age restriction (from 18 to 49 years old) will be abolished, allowing any couple who registers their marriage on or after January 1, 2026 to apply, regardless of age, thus lowering the eligibility threshold.
These measures are expected to reduce the financial burden on newlyweds and have a positive effect on addressing the low birth rate issue.
In addition, the support requirements have been clarified by specifying the timing of support and revising the required documentation.
