Gapyeong County Launches Winter-Themed Train Tour
One-Stop Package for Festivals and Tourist Attractions
Gapyeong County in Gyeonggi Province announced on December 11 that it has launched a winter-themed railway tourism package in conjunction with the upcoming '2025 Eobigye Valley Winterland' festival, which starts on December 20. The county has been developing themed tourism products using the ITX-Cheongchun train since April, based on a business agreement with KORAIL Tourism Development Co., Ltd.
This package, which will run until February 19 next year, is themed 'A Sparkling Winter Story Created by a Small Village' and will operate every Saturday and on Christmas Day. The itinerary features Gapyeong’s signature winter destinations: the Eobigye Valley Winterland Festival, the Begonia New Garden, and Edelweiss Swiss Village. The journey begins at Yongsan Station, with travelers taking the ITX-Cheongchun train via Cheongnyangni Station to Cheongpyeong Station, followed by transfers to dedicated vehicles.
At the Eobigye Valley Winterland Festival site, visitors can enjoy a variety of winter experiences, including traditional top-spinning, spinning snow sleds, traditional sledding, and photo zones featuring igloos and ice walls. After lunch, the tour continues to the Begonia New Garden, where guests can explore exotic winter gardens such as the greenhouse, Water Garden, and Media Art Infinity Zone. The itinerary concludes with an Alpine experience at the Edelweiss Swiss Theme Park, known for its Swiss-style architecture.
The package price is 79,000 won per person, which includes round-trip train fare, vehicle transportation, admission fees, and one meal. Reservations can be made through the KORAIL Tourism Development website and customer service center.

A Gapyeong County official stated, "We hope that the railway tourism package linked to Eobigye Valley Winterland will establish itself as a new winter attraction in Gapyeong and help revitalize the local tourism industry and economy, which have recently been affected by flood damage."
