Chosun University Wins Presidential Citation at Venture Startup Promotion Merit Awards
Chosun University announced on December 11 that it has received the Presidential Citation at the "2025 Venture Startup Promotion Merit Awards," organized by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
This award was established to nationally recognize and promote the contributions of individuals and organizations that have helped vitalize venture startups and build a robust startup ecosystem.
Chosun University was selected as the recipient in the "Support Organization" category, specifically in the subcategory for organizations fostering a private venture startup ecosystem.
To date, Chosun University has discovered and nurtured 581 startup companies, serving as a hub for the regional startup ecosystem. The university has built a virtuous cycle for the commercialization of research outcomes and has continuously expanded university-led startup activities by establishing and operating startup-friendly personnel and academic systems.
In particular, over the past three years, companies incubated and graduated from the university's startup incubation center have achieved a revenue growth rate of over 235% and an employment growth rate of over 35%, making significant contributions to revitalizing the local economy and creating jobs. In addition, by operating a maker space (specialized lab), the university has been at the forefront of spreading maker culture as a regional hub.
