The music video exceeded 700 million views on YouTube at 5:14 p.m. the previous day. With this achievement, BTS now has a total of 10 music videos that have each reached over 700 million views.
"Permission to Dance" is a dance-pop track that delivers the message that anyone can dance freely, as their heart desires, without needing permission. Released during the COVID-19 pandemic, the song resonated with listeners by offering comfort with messages such as "Let’s find freedom and happiness through dance and song even in difficult times" and "Life goes on."
BTS also performed "Permission to Dance" at the 76th United Nations General Assembly in 2021. The performance, which began in the assembly hall and moved through the lobby, the entrance, and the lawn plaza, captured the attention of viewers worldwide.
