Geochang County Named Top Institution in South Gyeongsang Forest Resources for Three Consecutive Years
Highly Praised for Implementing the "Direct Forest Project by Forest Owners"
Geochang County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on December 11 that it has been selected as the top institution in the 2025 forest resources evaluation conducted by South Gyeongsang Province.
This year, the county carried out the largest afforestation project in the province, covering 294 hectares, as well as a forest management project spanning 1,896 hectares, focusing on cultivating healthy and sustainable forest resources. In particular, Geochang County was highly praised for being the only region in the province to implement the "Direct Forest Project by Forest Owners," which aims to increase forest owners' participation in forest projects.
With this award, the county has been recognized as an outstanding institution for three consecutive years (Top Institution in 2023, Outstanding Institution in 2024, and Top Institution in 2025), once again proving its expertise and excellence in promoting forest projects.

Meanwhile, to ensure efficient management of private forests and to establish mutually beneficial strategies for forest projects, the county has entrusted part of its afforestation and forest management projects to the Geochang County Forestry Cooperative. Through this, the county is strengthening systematic record-keeping of management work, enhancing forest owners' satisfaction, and striving to improve the quality of forest projects.
