Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority Signs Admission Ticket Purchase Agreement for Island Expo
Fulfilling the Regional Win-Win Agreement
The 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo Organizing Committee (hereinafter referred to as the "Organizing Committee") announced that on December 9, Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (hereinafter referred to as the "Authority") signed a purchase agreement for admission tickets worth 20 million KRW to support the successful hosting of the Island Expo.
On September 30, the Authority signed a "Regional Revitalization and Win-Win Sisterhood Agreement" with Yeosu City and has since been actively promoting initiatives for regional cooperation. The recent purchase of admission tickets was carried out as part of this agreement.

View original imageIn particular, the Authority plans to donate the purchased Island Expo admission tickets to local vulnerable groups, youth, and regional welfare facilities, taking the lead in giving back to the community.
Hwang Hakbeom, Acting President of Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority, stated, "It is highly meaningful that we are not only purchasing admission tickets but also giving back to the community as a way to fulfill our win-win agreement with Yeosu City. We will continue to provide various forms of support so that not only the Island Expo is a success, but also all local residents can enjoy the event."
Jung Kimyung, Chairperson of the Organizing Committee, commented, "The donation of admission tickets by Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority is an exemplary case that demonstrates the value of an Island Expo in partnership with the local community. Through a participatory expo involving both the public and private sectors, we aim to establish this event as a globally recognized international exhibition specializing in islands."

Meanwhile, the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo, under the theme "Islands: Connecting the Sea and the Future," will be held for two months from September 5 to November 4, 2026, at Dolsan Jinmo District, Yeosu World Expo Site, Gaedo, and Geumo Island.
