The final report meeting was attended by provincial and municipal officials, representatives from the research agency, and advisory committee members, who reviewed the research outcomes and discussed future policy directions.
The main presentations included: ▲ Progress of the coal gangseok status survey in abandoned mine areas and analysis of stockpile site characteristics ▲ Potential for coal gangseok utilization in various industries such as construction, environment, and new materials ▲ Strategies for industrialization and investment attraction for coal gangseok utilization ▲ Improvements to the coal gangseok management system and economic feasibility analysis. The results outlined specific tasks for establishing a foundation for the industrial resource utilization of coal gangseok.
Participants agreed that in order for coal gangseok to be established as an industrial resource, there is a need for follow-up measures to strengthen the institutional foundation and expand corporate participation.
To this end, the province plans to launch a new project next year, the "Coal Gangseok Demonstration Infrastructure Operation Support Project," in cooperation with Taebaek City. The province will also establish an integrated support system for companies, including support for research and development, test production equipment, and the establishment of certification systems.
