National Institute for Korean Medicine Development Holds Korean Medicine Clinical Information Big Data Performance Report Meeting
Supporting the Expansion of Clinical Data Utilization through the Advancement of the Korean Medicine Standard EMR
The National Institute for Korean Medicine Development (Acting President Song Sujin) Clinical Information Big Data Promotion Team held the 2025 performance report meeting for the 'Korean Medicine Clinical Information Big Data Support Center Establishment Project' at the Seoul branch on December 9.
More than 30 participants attended the report meeting, including representatives from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Korean medicine community, the healthcare and IT industries, and academic experts, to discuss the project's achievements and future directions.
The 'Korean Medicine Clinical Information Big Data Support Center Establishment Project' is an ongoing initiative to create a clinical information big data hub for Korean medicine, aimed at improving the safety and efficacy of Korean medical treatments.
The project aims to develop Korean Medicine Standard Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG) and a standard electronic medical record (EMR) framework for Korean medicine that reflects real clinical settings. Based on this, the goal is to establish a foundation for clinical information collection, research, and the exchange of medical information systems.
Through this project, the Clinical Information Big Data Promotion Team has developed an 'API (Application Programming Interface) based on the Korean Medicine Standard EMR Framework' for 16 key clinical information items, including systematic medical interviews, physical examinations, evaluation questionnaires, and Korean medical procedures. In addition, they have built an API usage guide, specifications, and a dedicated portal, securing an interoperability foundation that can be utilized in various development environments.
Furthermore, by applying the standard EMR framework to university Korean medicine hospitals, the team confirmed the practical applicability and scalability of structured medical records in clinical settings.
