Actress Kim Jimi (birth name Kim Myungja) has passed away at the age of 85.
According to the film industry on December 10, Kim Jimi died in the United States. The Korean Film Actors Association is preparing a film industry funeral under its auspices.
Born in 1940 in Daedeok County, Chungnam Province, Kim Jimi made her debut in director Kim Ki-young's "Twilight Train" (1957). She went on to build a filmography of over 700 titles through the 1990s, establishing herself as a leading actress during the golden age of Korean cinema.
She starred in director Kim Suyong's "Land" (1974) and director Im Kwon-taek's "Gilsotteum" (1985), and received honors such as the Best Actress Award at the Panama International Film Festival and the Grand Bell Award for Best Actress.
In 2010, she was inducted into the Hall of Fame for Filmmakers under the title "Glamorous Actress." She also founded the production company Jimi Film and served as a member of the Korean Film Council, remaining active both within and outside the film industry.
