Maggie Kang, director of the Netflix animation "K-Pop Demon Hunters," has been selected as a recipient of the Ok-Gwan Order of Cultural Merit.


The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will present orders of merit, medals, and presidential citations to twenty-four individuals, including Director Maggie Kang, at the "2025 Korea Content Awards" ceremony to be held in the afternoon of December 10 at COEX in Seoul. The awards are divided into four categories, including the newly established Content Industry Development Merit this year.


"K-Pop Demon Hunters," directed by Maggie Kang, is considered the most popular animation in Netflix history. It is recognized for contributing to the overseas expansion of K-pop and related industries.


The Order of Cultural Merit will be awarded to writer Park Jieun of the drama "Queen of Tears" and director Kim Wonseok of the Netflix drama "When Life Gives You Tangerines."


Recipients of the Presidential Citation include Park Youngseok, CEO of Pan Entertainment; Yoon Hyunjun, CEO of Studio Slam; Mo Eunsul, writer from the Korea Broadcasting Writers Association; Kim Hyungtae, CEO of Shift Up; and Park Jungmoo, Vice President of Nexon Korea, among six individuals in total.


Fifteen works were selected as outstanding in three categories. Among them, the webtoon "Omniscient Reader," the animation "King of Kings," and the character "Dalnimi" will receive the Presidential Award.
