Gangwon Office of Education Steps Up School Support by Strengthening AI Utilization Capabilities
Participation in the 4th AI-Based Collaboration Tool Training
Immediate Application of AI Collaboration Skills to Work
The Gangwon Special Self-Governing Provincial Office of Education announced on December 8 that it participated in the "AI-Based Collaboration Tool Utilization Training (4th Session)" held at Seoam Hall of Kangwon National University, aiming to strengthen the department's capabilities in planning, operations, and support.
This training program was organized by the K-Hi-Tech Platform Project Group at Kangwon National University for public and private sector practitioners. The curriculum focused on practical, high-utility work skills, including AI-based Excel automation, PowerPoint (PPT) production, and video editing.
The Department of Culture, Sports, and Special Education reported that, based on a survey of teachers' desired training topics conducted during this year's "School Culture and Arts, Reading Education, and School Library Connection and Integration" program, there was particularly high demand for AI-powered art, music, and integrated classes.
This reflects growing expectations for the integration of arts education and AI technology. To support this, it was necessary to enhance the AI utilization capabilities of the office’s professionals and administrative officers.
Participation in this training signifies an effort to incorporate these on-site needs into the administrative planning stage and to internalize AI-based collaboration skills within departmental work.
The training included: understanding AI-based work automation (GPT technology trends and the latest automation (AX) trends); practical training in AI video editing (short-form content, educational and promotional content production); comparative utilization of AI tools (strategies for using ChatGPT, Gemini, and Copilot); and hands-on practice with PowerPoint and Excel automation (proposal composition, data organization, function and chart automation). The program was highly practice-oriented, enabling participating staff to immediately apply these skills to the production, reporting, and analysis of work materials.
A total of 20 employees from various departments under the provincial office participated in the training. The Department of Culture, Sports, and Special Education also included staff of various ranks, such as supervisors, educational specialists, and administrative officers, thereby laying the foundation for an AI-based collaborative culture.
Lee Inbeom, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Special Education, stated, "As demand for AI-integrated classes among teachers in the field continues to rise, it is important for professionals and administrative officers responsible for planning and support to first acquire AI utilization skills."
He added, "Through this training, we will strengthen our department’s capabilities so that staff can apply AI in their work and provide more effective support in various educational projects."
