Wi Seongrak: "Absence of 'North Korea Denuclearization' in US NSS Due to Different Drafting Guidelines"

View original imageWi Seongrak, Director of the Presidential Office's National Security Office, explained on the 7th that the absence of any mention of North Korea's denuclearization in the United States' National Security Strategy (NSS) report is "because the fundamental guidelines for drafting the report are fundamentally different from those in 2022."
Director Wi made these remarks during a press briefing following the conclusion of the "Six-Month Performance Report of President Lee Jaemyung's Administration" held at the Yongsan Presidential Office on this day.
He stated, "This time, the basic guidelines were described with a focus on America First, so specific regional disputes or major issues were not addressed in detail," adding, "I believe these matters will be addressed in subordinate documents in the future."

He further emphasized, "This does not necessarily mean that the United States is uninterested in resolving the North Korean nuclear issue or in resuming dialogue with North Korea. It is difficult to predict whether US-North Korea talks will resume, and I believe both positive and negative outcomes remain possible."
