Gumi's Manufacturing and Defense Technology Capabilities Recognized Nationwide
On December 4, the city of Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province, announced that KR M Co., Ltd. (KRM), a partner company of the Gumi Defense Venture Center located in Gongdan-dong and led by CEO Park Kwangsik, has been selected for the "100 Defense Innovation Companies" program promoted by the Defense Acquisition Program Administration.
The "100 Defense Innovation Companies" program is a nurturing initiative led by the Defense Acquisition Program Administration to respond to changes in future battlefield environments and international trade conditions.
The program selects promising small and medium-sized enterprises that are either actively pursuing projects in the five major advanced strategic defense industries-space, semiconductors, AI, drones, and robots-or possess innovative technological capabilities in advanced materials and sensors. These selected companies receive comprehensive consulting, funding, R&D, and export support, providing full-cycle assistance tailored to each stage of growth.

Based on this, the company has been steadily strengthening its technological competitiveness. In particular, after being selected as a partner company of the Gumi Defense Venture Center this year, KRM has demonstrated its growth potential through various achievements, including participation in R&D projects for the North Gyeongsang-Gumi Defense Innovation Cluster initiative.
Meanwhile, since 2014, the city of Gumi has continuously supported the development of defense-related small and venture businesses through the operation of the Gumi Defense Venture Center. In 2023, by attracting the North Gyeongsang-Gumi Defense Innovation Cluster, the city has been working to establish an industrial ecosystem for manned-unmanned integrated systems and to vitalize the defense industry.
