During his first stop, Governor Kim attended a resident briefing session for the National Road No. 98 Yanggeundaegyo Bridge Expansion Project held at Yangpyeong Library. He stated, "As I travel throughout Gyeonggi Province, I am moving forward with the slogan, 'Wherever we go, things change.' I always think about what the most pressing issue is in each place, and today, it is the Yanggeundaegyo Bridge. We will prepare thoroughly and begin construction in February next year without delay."
He further emphasized, "To resolve this issue, we have worked very closely with Yangpyeong County. The budget required has already been agreed upon with the central government and Yangpyeong County. We will join forces for the development of Yangpyeong and push forward with the project as planned."
The "National Road No. 98 Yanggeundaegyo Bridge Expansion Project" involves expanding the existing 1-kilometer, two-lane section of Yanggeundaegyo Bridge, which connects Byeongsan-ri in Gangsang-myeon to Yanggeun-ri in Yangpyeong-eup, to a four-lane road approximately 20 meters wide. Since being included in the "4th Five-Year National Road Plan" by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in 2016, the province has carried out key administrative procedures. After a feasibility review and related consultations, the project was put out to bid last September. The goal is to start construction in February next year and complete it by 2030.
