View original imageOvernight snowfall was observed across Gwangju and South Jeolla Province, with regional snow accumulation recorded, and all heavy snow advisories issued the previous day have been lifted.
According to the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration, as of 5 a.m. on December 4, the highest snow accumulation was 2.3 cm at Sangmu Base in Jangseong, followed by 1.1 cm in Yeonggwang, 0.5 cm in both Gwangsan District of Gwangju and Jindo, 0.4 cm in Wolya-myeon of Hampyeong, and 0.3 cm in Jido-eup of Shinan.
All heavy snow advisories previously issued for Shinan, Yeonggwang, Jangseong, Muan, and Hampyeong have been lifted. Snowfall that began on the night of December 2 is forecast to continue through the afternoon of December 4. While some areas may experience rain or little to no snow accumulation, around 1 cm of snow is expected in northern parts of South Jeolla Province.
Temperatures dropped below freezing in most areas. As of the morning, Baeka-myeon in Hwasun recorded minus 4.3 degrees Celsius, Boseong minus 3.7 degrees, Okhwa-myeon in Suncheon and Gokseong minus 3.4 degrees, Naju minus 3.1 degrees, and Gwangju minus 1.7 degrees.
An official from the Korea Meteorological Administration stated, "There is a possibility of rain or snow during the cold morning and evening hours," and advised, "From the morning of December 5, the weather is expected to gradually clear, so please take care of your health."
