Namyangju City Appoints 2nd Committee for the Improvement of Social Workers’ Treatment, Marking a New Beginning
On December 3, Namyangju City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwangdeok) appointed new members to serve on the 2nd Committee for the Improvement of Treatment for Social Workers and Others (hereinafter referred to as the Committee) at the Integrity Room of City Hall and held the 25-3rd meeting.

View original imageThe city formed this Committee based on public-private cooperation in order to enhance the professionalism and working conditions of social welfare workers, and to strengthen the effectiveness of policies related to improving their treatment. The appointments were made as part of this effort.
The 2nd Committee consists of a total of 15 members: six appointed members, including the Director of Welfare, the Head of Welfare Policy, and a labor attorney, as well as nine members recommended by relevant organizations. The Committee members will serve for two years, until November 2027, and will provide consultation and deliberation on key matters related to improving treatment within the city.
At the 25-3rd meeting held on this day, agenda items included the operational direction of the 2nd Committee and the 2026 support plan for improving treatment. The Committee members expressed their commitment to creating an environment where social welfare workers are recognized and can work safely.

Mayor Joo Gwangdeok stated, "Improving the treatment of social welfare workers is a core task for enhancing professionalism and service quality in the field," adding, "I expect the 2nd Committee to reflect diverse on-site opinions and present effective directions." He continued, "The city will also work closely with the Committee to actively support the improvement of treatment and status of social welfare workers."
