Jeonnam Office of Education Wins 'Best Institution Award' at Jeollanam-do ESG Citizen Awards
Recognized for Enacting the Nation's First 'ESG Education Practice Ordinance'
On December 2, the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education received the highest award in the education sector, the 'Best Institution Award,' at the 2nd Jeollanam-do ESG Citizen Awards ceremony held at Mokpo Science University.
This recognition is considered significant as it officially acknowledges the office's efforts to spread a sustainable educational culture by establishing an ESG education system and cooperating with the local community.
The provincial office has expanded the foundation for ESG education in partnership with the community through a variety of programs, including signing an ESG agreement with Sani Garden, strengthening ESG education for parents, promoting ESG values in collaboration with universities, and operating ESG lectures and practical activities.
In particular, the office has taken the lead nationwide by enacting the first-ever 'ESG Education Practice Ordinance,' focusing on building the 'Jeonnam-style ESG Education Model' that integrates the ESG educator training program, carbon neutrality education, and social responsibility practice programs.
It is analyzed that these efforts have played a crucial role in enhancing practical implementation at schools and spreading ESG culture throughout the local community.
With this award, the office plans to further strengthen the substance of the Jeonnam-style ESG education. The goal is to establish a sustainable educational ecosystem where schools, families, and the local community participate together, thereby embedding a practice-oriented ESG culture.
In addition, the office will pursue long-term initiatives such as publishing an ESG sustainability report and building an ESG network with related organizations.
