"Kiss is a Bad Idea!" Tops Netflix Non-English Shows in Just Three Weeks
Fast-Paced Plot and Classic Clich?s Drive Popularity
The SBS drama "Kiss is a Bad Idea!" was the most-watched non-English series on Netflix last week.
According to Netflix's official website Tudum on December 3, the show recorded 5.5 million views between November 24 and 30. It ranked No. 1 among non-English shows in 47 countries, including South Korea, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, and Colombia. The series debuted at No. 3 in its first week, climbed to No. 2 in the second week, and reached No. 1 in its third week.
The drama tells the story of Go Darim (played by Ahn Eunjin), a single woman who disguises herself as a working mom to make a living, and her boss Gong Jihyuk (played by Jang Kiyong), who falls for her after an unexpected first kiss. As the title suggests, the fast-paced plot-starting with a kiss in the very first episode-and scenes full of classic romantic clich?s have contributed to its popularity.
The variety show "Three Meals in Kenya," produced by Na Youngseok's team, ranked fifth with 1.9 million views, while the series "You Killed," which deals with domestic violence, came in sixth with 1.8 million views.
