This measure aims to reduce damage such as foul odors, building damage, and the spread of diseases caused by harmful wild animals like pigeons.
On December 2, the city designated and announced these public places as "Prohibited Zones for Feeding Harmful Wild Animals" to ensure citizens' right to a pleasant environment and to maintain public hygiene.
The prohibited zones include 10 major parks and plazas frequently visited by citizens, such as Ilsan Culture Plaza, Madu Station Plaza, Juyeop Station Plaza, and Nakmin Park.
A city official emphasized, "Feeding pigeons may appear to be a well-intentioned act, but in reality, it negatively affects citizens' health and the environment. We ask for your active participation and cooperation to improve the urban environment and resolve hygiene issues."
The official added, "During the guidance period, we will install informational signs, conduct promotional activities, and carry out on-site inspections to continuously manage the urban ecosystem and improve the environment."
