An anti-aircraft shell explosion occurred at an Army unit in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, resulting in injuries to four soldiers.
According to the Army on December 2, an Army unit was conducting anti-aircraft firing training at a training ground in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, when a shell of unknown cause exploded.
The shell that exploded was reportedly a 30mm anti-aircraft shell. The explosion occurred for unknown reasons while personnel were attempting to remove the shell after it became stuck in the feeder.
As a result of the accident, four personnel (three non-commissioned officers and one civilian employee) were injured. They were transported by military helicopter to the Armed Forces Capital Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical treatment. The injured are reported to have sustained shoulder injuries, falls, and tinnitus symptoms, but their lives are not in danger.
