Kim Taejin of Gwangju Seo-gu District Council Receives Korea People-Oriented Legislative Award
Recognized for Advancing Digital Literacy Among Seniors in the AI Era
Kim Taejin, a member of the Gwangju Seo-gu District Council, announced on December 1 that he received the 5th Korea People-Oriented Legislative Award, which is given every four years to honor the nation's top local council members. The award ceremony was held at the National Assembly on November 28.
The Korea People-Oriented Legislative Award, established to commemorate the 30th anniversary of local councils, is organized by the Local Autonomy Research Institute and sponsored by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. The award is renowned for its rigorous and fair selection process, which includes four rounds of document review, interviews, and on-site inspections.
Assemblyman Kim was recognized for his contribution in enacting Gwangju's first "Ordinance on Supporting Digital Education for Seniors," which aims to bridge the generational gap in digital literacy among residents aged 65 and older in the AI era.
This ordinance provides for free digital education for Seo-gu residents aged 65 and older and includes detailed implementation plans to ensure practical, customized digital education that supports daily living.
