Listening to the Concerns of About 50 Small Business Owners and Discussing Economic Stabilization
Plans to Implement Telecommunications Subsidies and Reduce Public Property Usage and Lease Fees
Lee Jangwoo, Mayor of Daejeon, stated, "Small business owners are the core players in the local economy. Therefore, to prioritize the stabilization of the people's livelihood economy, we will develop support measures to reduce the burden on small business owners by making rent reductions for public property more effective."
On the morning of December 1, during a meeting held in the main conference room at City Hall with about 50 participants including small business owners, Mayor Lee made these remarks while listening to concerns and discussing ways to stabilize the local economy and address difficulties faced by small businesses.
During the meeting, small business owners shared their difficulties, citing challenges such as reduced consumer spending due to a prolonged economic downturn, labor shortages, and rising rents. They requested practical and sustainable support measures.
Daejeon City is currently implementing various support programs for the management stability of small businesses, including rent and telecommunications subsidies as well as ultra-low interest financing. In addition, the city plans to further ease the rent burden for small business owners leasing public property by reducing public property usage and lease fees.

This measure is based on the amendment to the Enforcement Decree of the Public Property Act. It will temporarily reduce usage and lease fees for small businesses and small and medium-sized enterprises for the period from January to December of this year. The reduction will also apply to tenants who have already paid their usage and lease fees for this period.
