The Top 10 AI Projects for Public Welfare were announced at the first Ministers’ Meeting on Science and Technology held on November 24. After the government solicited AI project proposals in the public welfare sector, the Deputy Prime Minister’s “Public Empowerment AI Service Task Force” selected high-impact candidate projects based on consultations among relevant ministries and two rounds of expert technical and feasibility evaluations. The final ten projects were then confirmed at the ministers’ meeting.

The selected AI startup and management consultant service for small business owners will provide customized support for business preparation and management consulting. The service utilizes commercial district data such as traffic, population, and sales to recommend business types, suggest products and pricing, adjust operating hours, and develop operational strategies. A total budget of 3 billion won (approximately 2.3 million US dollars) will be invested in the project.

The service will be offered by building an AI operating environment based on data from the existing small business big data platform (Small Business 365). With an average of 735,000 monthly platform uses, the service is expected to spread rapidly and deliver a strong impact at the field level.

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups and SEMS plan to establish the necessary servers and update data and infrastructure starting early next year to provide the service. The official launch of the AI startup and management consultant service within Small Business 365 is scheduled for 2027.

Park Sunghyo, Chairman of SEMS, stated, "The selection of the government’s Top 10 AI Projects for Public Welfare signifies that the digital transformation of small businesses has become a core national policy. We will continue to drive data- and AI-based policy innovation so that aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners can be the first to experience changes brought by the AI era on the ground."
