Mokpo National University announced on the 28th that the family startup company "Korea Water Resources Engineering" received the Minister of SMEs and Startups Award for Excellence in the "Startup Incubating Competition (Item Division)."

View original imageThe award-winning product is a pipeline-type sterilization system based on UV-A and UV-C LEDs, which has been recognized as an innovative technology for solving problems that arise in various water treatment environments, including public sewage, ship water tanks, and food processing.
Korea Water Resources Engineering designed a system that sterilizes air and liquids using UV-A and UV-C LEDs, and completed a prototype utilizing equipment such as 3D printers and CNC machining centers at the MNU Makerspace. During the prototype development process, the company enhanced the technology and improved the product’s quality through specialized mentoring.
This achievement is cited as an example of how the MNU Makerspace goes beyond simply providing space, offering substantial support for manufacturing startups and product development for local startups.
Yoo Youngjae, Director of the Mokpo National University Startup Innovation Center, said, "Winning the Award for Excellence demonstrates that startups can achieve innovative results in the field of manufacturing startups by utilizing the center’s infrastructure and support. We will continue to expand our infrastructure so that companies can focus on product development and will actively support the global expansion of local startups."
