Gochang County Allocates 880.2 Billion Won for Next Year's Main Budget... Submitted to County Council
Increase of 30.8 Billion Won from Previous Year
Gochang County in North Jeolla Province has submitted its 2026 budget proposal, totaling 880.2 billion won, to the Gochang County Council.
According to the county on November 28, the proposed budget represents an increase of 30.8 billion won, or 3.62%, compared to the previous year. By account, the general account increased by 29.4 billion won, while the special account was raised by 1.4 billion won.
The budget proposal for next year was designed to ensure fiscal soundness through thorough expenditure restructuring and the reduction of unnecessary operating expenses, with the goal of 'efficient allocation of financial resources.' In particular, it focuses on revitalizing the local economy, including strategic projects of the 8th popularly elected administration such as the West Coast tourism development project and the issuance of local currency.
In the culture, tourism, and education sectors, the main projects include: ▲ the Sunset and Ecological Mudflat Platform Construction Project (5.6 billion won), ▲ the Rural Tourism Star Village Creation Project (2.4 billion won), ▲ the Gochang Eupseong Cultural Experience Facility Construction Project (1.6 billion won), and ▲ the West Coast Sunset Drive Landmark Project (5 billion won).
For industry, small and medium-sized enterprises, and energy, the budget includes: ▲ support for the issuance of Gochang Love Gift Certificates (6.1 billion won), and ▲ the New and Renewable Energy Convergence Project (2.7 billion won). In social welfare, ▲ the Gochang County Marriage Incentive Fund (100 million won) has been allocated, doubling the previous incentive from 1 million won to 2 million won.
In the health sector, ▲ free vaccines for human papillomavirus (HPV) and pertussis (60 million won) have been newly allocated to provide comprehensive health services. In the field of public order and safety, the budget includes: ▲ the Comprehensive Maintenance Project for Areas Prone to Storm and Flood Damage (3.5 billion won), ▲ the Natural Disaster Risk Zone Maintenance Project (11.8 billion won), and ▲ the Steep Slope Maintenance Project (1 billion won).
County Governor Shim Deokseop stated, "Next year, we will strategically manage our finances to successfully complete the projects of the 8th popularly elected administration and to enhance the quality of ongoing projects," adding, "We will pool all our resources to bring about tangible changes that residents can truly feel in every sector."

The budget proposal for next year will be finalized after deliberation at the 320th regular session of the Gochang County Council.
