The agenda items discussed included three proposals from the Chuncheon Office of Education-△ efficient strategies for establishing schools and allocating students in response to the rapid increase in apartment complex developments on the outskirts of the city, △ a request to select the construction of a debris flow dam in San 63-1, Sinpo-ri, Sabuk-myeon, Chuncheon City, and one additional item-as well as three proposals from Chuncheon City, including △ promoting student participation in Chuncheon City's cultural and sports events and △ encouraging volunteer activities among middle and high school students, totaling six agenda items in all.
The Chuncheon Office of Education explained that the recent increase in apartment construction projects on the outskirts of the city is making it difficult to allocate students and establish new schools. It emphasized the need for both institutions to share information in advance and cooperate closely regarding future demands for apartment development.
In addition, the office requested that the cooperation system be strengthened so that the establishment of schools, which are classified as essential infrastructure under the "National Land Planning and Utilization Act," and the allocation of students to nearby schools can be optimized in the medium and long term.
Meanwhile, regarding the forest land at San 63-1, Sinpo-ri, Sabuk-myeon, Chuncheon City (a shared property managed by Gangwon Life Science High School), where a large-scale landslide occurred due to heavy rainfall in July this year, both institutions agreed that Chuncheon City would apply to designate the site as a target for the debris flow dam installation project in 2026 to secure the safety of the national road toward Hwacheon.
