Lotte Hotel & Resorts received high marks for its multifaceted ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) strategies, including eco-friendly initiatives, regional coexistence, and the realization of social value.
Notably, the company has contributed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by expanding the use of renewable energy. Solar power generation systems have been installed at urban hotels such as L7 Myeongdong, Hongdae, and Gangnam by Lotte Hotel, while geothermal heating and cooling systems have been introduced at Lotte Hotel Ulsan and Lotte Resort Jeju to improve energy efficiency.
The three hotels and resorts in the Jeju region have earned the international environmental certification "Green Key," demonstrating their eco-friendly operational capabilities that meet global standards. Green Key is an international certification operated by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), awarded to properties that meet 75 criteria across 13 categories, including carbon, water, energy, and waste management.
Building on these achievements, Lotte Hotel & Resorts is expanding various environmental protection initiatives, such as the "Green Stay" campaign encouraging guests to reuse bedding during their stay and a campaign for recycling used linen resources. In addition, 21 hotels and resorts in Korea participate in the "10-Minute Lights-Off Campaign" twice a year to help reduce carbon emissions and lower energy consumption.
