The character "Miraewa Changjo" of the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education won the grand prize at the Korea Character Awards held on the 25th at the Grand Ballroom of the Koreana Hotel in Seoul.
This awards ceremony was organized to discover creative and popular character content and to strengthen the competitiveness of the K-content industry. The event was hosted by The Digital Chosun Ilbo and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Presidential Council on Intellectual Property, the Korea Creative Content Agency, and others.

As the only character among all provincial and metropolitan education offices nationwide to win the grand prize, it has been recognized for its content competitiveness and social impact as a public education institution character.
The office is actively utilizing this character across various media such as policy promotion, video content, and school events, and is expanding its use to include emoticons, character merchandise, and social media content targeted at youth. As a result, it has gained great popularity not only among students and parents but also within the local community.
"Mirae" is a curious mountain rabbit who grew up in the forest and is a character with warm memories of children visiting the forest in their childhood. "Changjo" is a wood pigeon who has traveled the wider world and accumulated knowledge. Through exploration and adventure, these two friends express the philosophy that Jeonnam education aspires to: inquiry, growth, and coexistence.
This character was developed in 2022 through a nationwide public contest and vote, and has drawn attention for its storytelling-based universe and its setting inspired by Jeonnam's pristine nature. It has also been recognized for its high symbolism and value as educational content.
The provincial office plans to further expand public content utilizing "Miraewa Changjo" following this award.
