Daegu Suseong District Council Member Hyunmin Cha Proposes Ordinance for Public Job Placement for North Korean Defectors
The partial amendment ordinance to the "Suseong District Ordinance on Settlement Support for North Korean Defectors," sponsored by Hyunmin Cha, a member of the Daegu Suseong District Council, passed the review of the 1st Administrative Planning Committee during the 273rd 2nd regular session held on the 24th.
This amendment is the first in the Daegu region to include provisions for job placement in the public sector for North Korean defectors and priority purchase of products from businesses that employ North Korean defectors.
Hyunmin Cha stated, "North Korean defectors face significant difficulties in finding employment and often live economically unstable lives," adding, "This amendment was proposed to help North Korean defectors achieve stable livelihoods and self-reliance within the local community."
Assemblyman Cha emphasized, "Stable settlement for North Korean defectors goes beyond simple living support; it is about helping them become self-reliant," and added, "We will continue to work on effective support and policies to help them lead independent lives."

The amendment is scheduled for final approval at the 2nd plenary session of the 273rd 2nd regular session of the Suseong District Council on the 27th.
