Shin Kyubeak Visits Sweden and Norway to Discuss Defense and Defense Industry Cooperation
First Visit to Sweden by a South Korean Defense Minister
Minister of National Defense Shin Kyubeak is visiting Sweden and Norway, traditional allies in Northern Europe, to discuss defense and defense industry cooperation.
According to the Ministry of National Defense on November 25, Minister Shin will visit Sweden and Norway consecutively from November 26 to 29 (local time). This marks the first time a South Korean Minister of National Defense has visited Sweden.
On November 27, Minister Shin is scheduled to hold a South Korea-Sweden defense ministers' meeting with Swedish Minister of Defence Pal Jonson. The following day, on November 28, he will hold a South Korea-Norway defense ministers' meeting with Norwegian Minister of Defence Torgeir Knag Fylkesnes.
During these meetings, Minister Shin plans to discuss ways to strengthen comprehensive defense exchange and cooperation between South Korea, Sweden, and Norway. He will also promote the excellence of South Korea's defense industry and emphasize a proactive commitment to defense and defense industry cooperation.

The Ministry of National Defense stated, "Minister Shin's visit will serve as an opportunity to deepen and advance mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of defense and the defense industry with both Sweden and Norway, and to expand the foundation for the advancement of K-defense into Northern Europe." The ministry added, "In addition to defense and defense industry cooperation, the meetings will also address ways to strengthen strategic cooperation for peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in the region."
