Uiseong County Council Questions the Real Use of the Budget... Opens 285th Regular Session
Thorough Review of 2026 Budget and 14 Agenda Items Begins
Comprehensive Examination of Key Issues from Farmland Drainage Improvement to Drone Industry Promotion
The Uiseong County Council (Chairman Choi Hunsik) convened its 285th 2nd regular session on November 24, which will run for 18 days until December 11. This is a key session that will determine the structure and direction of the county administration as it reviews a total of 14 agenda items, including next year's budget, ordinance bills, and proposals for contributions.
During the plenary session, Assemblywoman Kim Minju delivered a five-minute free speech, stating, "Poor drainage in farmland is a fundamental issue that undermines agricultural competitiveness," and urged Uiseong County to take proactive measures. Her remarks, which elevated the farmland drainage issue to a core policy task for the county, drew significant attention in the chamber.
The Administrative Welfare Committee will review two ordinance bills that lay the institutional foundation for county administration: the Ordinance on the Establishment and Operation of Various Committees in Uiseong County, and the Partial Amendment to the Ordinance on Service of Local Public Officials.
In addition, the committee will decide on six proposals directly related to residents' daily lives and education and welfare infrastructure: the Scholarship Contribution Proposal for Village Leaders' Children, the Purpose Contribution Proposal for the Uiseong County Talent Development Foundation, the Overseas Saemaul Pilot Village Project Contribution Proposal, the Local Talent Development Scholarship Fund Contribution Proposal, the 2026 Local Tax Development Fund Contribution Proposal, and the Shared Property Management Plan.
The Industrial Construction Committee will handle three ordinance bills that will shape the framework for future industry and environmental policy: the Partial Amendment to the County Park Management Ordinance, the Ordinance on the Promotion of the Drone Industry and Establishment and Operation of Related Funds, and the Partial Amendment to the Waste Management Ordinance.
Furthermore, the committee will closely examine the effectiveness of three proposals aimed at strengthening regional economic resilience: the Special Guarantee for Youth Enterprises, the Special Guarantee for Small Business Owners, and the Rural Development Fund Contribution Proposal.
At the opening ceremony, Chairman Choi Hunsik emphasized, "Next year's budget is a very important standard that will determine the quality of life for county residents and the future structure of Uiseong. We will conduct an even more rigorous review to ensure that only policies and budgets with real benefits for the residents are selected."
