Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority Selects Two Winners for "Landscape Awards," Including K-Bio Lab Hub
The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority announced on November 24 that it has selected two works as the final winners of this year's "Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ) Landscape Awards" Excellence Prize.
The "K-Bio Lab Hub" in Songdo International City, which was selected this time, received praise for its well-proportioned architecture, harmonious integration with the surrounding environment, and meticulous stone finishing details.
In addition, the Samsung Bioepis Daycare Center in Songdo was highly evaluated for its creative design, including an open glass wall and the incorporation of indoor playground spaces.
Since 2023, the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority has been presenting the Landscape Awards by selecting outstanding designs among architectural plans submitted to the Landscape Committee. This year's winners were chosen from 52 projects that passed landscape review between November last year and September this year, through two rounds of evaluation based on their consistency with landscape plans, creativity in architectural design, uniqueness, and sustainability.
The IFEZ Landscape Awards present certificates not only to the architects who planned the outstanding designs but also to the building owners. This is because, in addition to the architect's capabilities, the thoughts and commitment of the building owners are also important in producing excellent architectural design, so both are recognized together.
The award ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on November 26 in the auditorium of the Incheon Urban History Museum. The architects of the two winning projects will directly present the concepts behind their designs and explain in detail the process leading up to the finalization of their plans.
Lee Minsu, Director of Urban Design at the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority, said, "We will continue our efforts to create landscapes in the Incheon Free Economic Zone that citizens can truly experience."
