Minister Yoon Hojung Orders Full Efforts for Wildfire Suppression in Yangyang
"Every Effort to Prevent Casualties"
On the 23rd, Yoon Hojung, Minister of the Interior and Safety, urged that all equipment and personnel be swiftly deployed to make every effort for the early extinguishing of the wildfire that broke out in Yangyang, Gangwon Province the previous day.
Minister Yoon stated, "Evacuate residents in areas at risk from the wildfire quickly and establish firebreaks proactively to prevent any casualties as the highest priority," adding, "Pay special attention to the safety of firefighting personnel, including the special wildfire suppression teams and local government officials."

As the wildfire that broke out at around 6:26 p.m. the previous day in Seomyeon, Yangyang, Gangwon Province continued to spread, the Korea Forest Service issued Wildfire Response Level 1 as of 4 a.m. on this day. From early morning, the forest and fire authorities have deployed 25 helicopters to carry out firefighting operations. No casualties have been reported.
