Over the years, the city has actively implemented a variety of family-friendly policies, including operating an on-site daycare center, introducing a compensation system for work substitutes, hiring temporary staff, running a psychological counseling center for employees called "Mind Rest Area," supporting workplace clubs and sports facilities, and providing opportunities for employees' families to experience rural and local culture.
Additionally, to create a family-friendly community environment, the city has continuously promoted the family-friendly certification system in cooperation with organizations such as the Goyang Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Goyang City Federation of Economic Organizations. It has also encouraged companies whose certification is about to expire to extend or renew their certification, thereby working to increase the number of certified companies.
As a result, the number of family-friendly certified companies in the city, which stood at only seven in 2014, has increased every year, reaching 61 in 2024.
Alongside these efforts, the city has continuously worked to establish an organizational culture in which all employees can enjoy a work-life balance without discrimination, by encouraging the active use of annual leave, expanding welfare for employees during childbirth, childcare, and for those with multiple children, and promoting paternity leave for male employees.
Mayor Lee Donghwan stated, "Employees can fully demonstrate their capabilities only when they are able to balance work and family, which in turn leads to improved quality of administrative services. We will continue to expand our family-friendly working environment and flexible organizational culture so that employees can work even more comfortably in the future."
