Yeoncheon County Wins 'CES 2026 Innovation Award' for Satellite-Based Precision Agriculture
Gyeonggi Province, Yeoncheon County, and SaeFarm Collaboration
Recognized for Global Technological Excellence
Yeoncheon County announced on November 21 that the nation’s first satellite-based smart agriculture demonstration project, jointly promoted with Gyeonggi Province, has achieved a significant milestone by winning an Innovation Award at the world’s largest technology exhibition, CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2026.
This year, the satellite-based smart agriculture system, developed in collaboration by the Gyeonggi-do Agricultural Research & Extension Services, Yeoncheon County, and SaeFarm Co., Ltd., was recognized for its innovation on the international stage. The demonstration results from Yeoncheon County were directly utilized to enhance the core algorithms and performance of the award-winning technology at CES, serving as a representative case of securing global technological competitiveness.
The CES 2026 Innovation Award was presented to the ‘SaeFarm AI Satellite Farm Monitor’ service, submitted by SaeFarm, based on the demonstration results of the ‘Decision-Making System for Production Complexes Utilizing AI Analysis of Agroforestry Satellite Imagery,’ a project jointly conducted by the Gyeonggi-do Agricultural Research & Extension Services, Yeoncheon County, and SaeFarm Co., Ltd.
This system uses high-resolution 0.7m agroforestry satellite imagery and AI analysis technology to measure crop growth conditions daily and detect abnormalities at an early stage, thereby supporting farmers in making agricultural work decisions. It has been applied to 168 rice farms cultivating the Gyeonggi-developed ‘Yeonjin’ variety and 52 Yeoncheon soybean farms, accumulating growth data and further advancing the system’s analysis accuracy and predictive models based on this data.
Kim Deokhyeon, Governor of Yeoncheon County, stated, “By introducing the Yeoncheon soybean production complex decision-making system utilizing SaeFarm’s satellite AI analysis technology, we have taken a step toward Yeoncheon-style precision agriculture. Yeoncheon County will continue to do its utmost to advance precision agriculture by collaborating with outstanding agricultural innovation companies like SaeFarm, alongside the Gyeonggi-do Agricultural Research & Extension Services.”
