Sungwoo Jung, CEO of Gimex, Selected for Dongmyung Grand Prize in Industry and Service Category
Recognized for 36 Years of Dedication to the Automotive Industry and Community Contributions
Award Ceremony to Be Held on December 4
Dongmyung Cultural Foundation (Chairman Kang Kyungsoo) and Dongmyung University (President Lee Sangcheon) have selected Sungwoo Jung, CEO of Gimex Co., Ltd., as the recipient of the 16th Dongmyung Grand Prize in the Industry and Service category.
CEO Sungwoo Jung has dedicated 36 years to the automobile manufacturing industry and has led Gimex, which he founded in 2004, for 21 years, contributing to strengthening the competitiveness of the manufacturing sector in Busan.
Gimex, headquartered in Busan, operates three domestic sites including Yangsan and Asan. The company has grown in the manufacturing and distribution of automotive and IT components. Last year, out of its total sales of 111.5 billion KRW, overseas sales accounted for 52 billion KRW, establishing Gimex as a leading global small and strong enterprise.
CEO Jung has emphasized 'ethical management' and 'cooperation' as his management philosophy and has actively contributed to the development of the local industry. Serving as president and executive of the Busan Federation of Small and Medium Business Convergence for 13 years, he has worked to strengthen the local business ecosystem. In recognition of his achievements, he received the Minister of SMEs and Startups Award in 2022 and the Gold Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit at the 2025 Small and Medium Business Convergence Expo.
He has also been consistently involved in community activities. As the 15th member of the Honor Society in Busan, he has recently served as the president of the Busan Honor Society, leading efforts to promote a culture of donation and volunteerism. He has been recognized for his contributions in various fields, including the Busan Mayor's Award in 2021 (Community Welfare), the Minister of Health and Welfare Award in 2024 (National Sharing Grand Prize), and the Busan Arts Achievement Award in 2025.
The Dongmyung Grand Prize Selection Committee stated, "CEO Sungwoo Jung is an exemplary entrepreneur who has contributed to regional industrial development and the spirit of sharing, fully embodying the 'contribution to regional and national development' spirit that the Dongmyung Grand Prize aspires to," explaining that the decision was unanimous.
The 16th Dongmyung Grand Prize ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on December 4 at the Chamber Hall on the second floor of the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with a prize of 20 million KRW.

The Dongmyung Grand Prize is a public award established in 2008 by regional institutions including Busan Metropolitan City, Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and BNK Busan Bank. It honors the legacy of the late Kang Seokjin, founder of Dongmyung Cultural Foundation and chairman of Dongmyung Timber, a local company that led industrialization and modernization, by recognizing individuals who have contributed to the development of the local community.
