Currently, 20 farms in Buan County are cultivating facility-grown peaches in 125 greenhouses, covering approximately 6.3 hectares. The average annual income per farm, based on 6,611 square meters (2,000 pyeong), is around 100 million won, establishing peaches as a promising high-income crop for the region's agriculture.
Previously, the county supported four farms with a total of approximately 53 million won last year through the Fruit Tree High-Quality Facility Modernization Project, promoting the installation of frost-prevention fans and working to strengthen the foundation of the facility peach industry.
During the meeting, research association members shared various on-site opinions, including difficulties in sorting due to the absence of a joint sorting facility, the need to introduce sugar content measurement devices for each crop group, and requests to install farm signboards.
In particular, in response to the recent increase in online agricultural product consumption, they strongly requested the establishment of new sales channels, such as expanding online sales through platforms like Korea Post Shopping and Coupang.
Governor Kwon stated, "We will do our utmost to resolve the challenges faced by facility peach farmers and strive to further develop the peach industry as a leading high-income crop in Buan."
