Through this event, the district aims to enhance youth understanding and interest in advanced technology and to expand the local science and startup ecosystem.
The competition consists of two categories: ‘Robot Soccer’ and ‘Robot Basketball,’ where elementary school students compete in robot control skills and problem-solving abilities. All matches will be held in a best-of-three, single-elimination tournament format, with match pairings determined by on-site drawing.
‘Robot Soccer’ is for students in grades 1 to 3, with the participant who scores more goals in the opponent’s net declared the winner. ‘Robot Basketball’ is for students in grades 4 to 6, with the winner being the first to score in their own net. The competition is open to 24 students currently enrolled in elementary schools located in Gwanak District, and applications can only be submitted online via QR code until December 8.
Since the launch of the Gwanak Small and Medium Venture Promotion Agency in July this year, the district has been running youth entrepreneurship and technology experience programs in conjunction with Gwanak S Valley. At the Seoul National University Robot and AI Competition held during the ‘Gwanak S Valley Startup Festival’ last September, elementary school students controlled robots to perform ‘Smart Factory Logistics Transport’ and the ‘Smart Energy Transport Project,’ receiving enthusiastic responses from the audience.
